Bratkartoffeln or German Fries
This is a Dutch oven recipe that I like to make during the summer.
Prep time 10 minutes; Cook time 30 minutes
Ingredients:
Light approx 25 charcoal briquettes in a charcoal chimney.
Cut bacon into 1/2" pieces, put into Dutch Oven. If bacon is fatty, cook and discard fat. Cut potatoes and onion into smaller pieces. The potatoes need to be washed, but don't need to be peeled. Place in Dutch oven with cubed butter.

Place 10 charcoals under the oven and 15 on top.

Stir after 15 minutes. Remove from heat when potatoes soften, about 30 minutes. Can leave in oven to "coast" while other parts of the meal are completed.
